My little L has an affinity for mice and rats. When we first brought her home from China she didn't like animals and refused to touch anything soft. One day we were in a store and L spotted a Webkins rat. She picked it up and hugged it. Well I had to buy it for her. And that was the beginning of our rat collection...
As soon as L got home from preschool and saw her rats/mice set our she was very excited. She hugged and kissed each one and told them that she missed them.
For lunch L had
- a mouse cookie
- a mouse salad (red pepper, cauliflower &carrot)
- mouse pear
- mouse bean & cheese tortilla
I filled a small round tortilla with refried beans and shredded cheddar and then folded it in half. I used a knife and cut it in half again giving me 2 rounded triangles. I used a piece of cheese stick for the tail, 2 triangles cut from an American cheese slice for the ears and shredded cheddar for the whiskers. I used a food marker for the nose and eyes.
For the mouse pear, I used canned pear halves. I stuck in a thin pretzel stick for the tail and used chocolate chips for the eyes and nose.
After lunch, L and I read this book. I love this book because it is a collection. Not only does it have several stories in it but there is a CD, songs, games and even recipes. You really get a lot for your money with this one.
If you wonder why I do Muffin Tin Lunches, it is for a couple reasons. The first is that I am lazy and usally L's lunch consists of just one thing like spaghettios or a hot dog. Creating Muffin Tin Lunches motivates me to provide a well balanced (hopefully) diversified lunch. It also is a fun way to get a picky eater to try new foods. Before introducing L to muffin tin lunches she wouldn't eat pb&J, mandarin oranges, peaches, red peppers or apples. We are still working on the pears but she did take two bites of her mouse pear today.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Simply adorable! I love book themed tins. We did the "If you take a Mouse to the Movies" tin at Christmas. So much fun!
