Happy Muffin Tin Monday!
Sorry I missed last week. It was field day and I was painting faces for 3 hours. Fish are my specialty if you're interested in some facial artwork. But fish have nothing to do with this weeks theme.
A friend told me what a cute book, A Bad Case Of Stripes by David Shannon is and we've never read it. So, off we went to the library.
This was an easy lunch because I could just use food we hand on hand and not go out and buy anything special. I rarely buy fruit roll-ups but they were on sale and I had a coupon and my kid gave me the ole "PLEASE MOMMY PLEASE!" So that is why those happened to be in our house this week.
- Striped Sandwich (Salami strips on bread)
- Striped Apple
- Purple Polka Dots (grapes)
- Cheese Stripes (American and Havarti)
- Carrot Stripes
- Striped Fruit Roll-Ups
L loved everything but the Havarti. But she did try one stripe of it sandwiched between two American slices. And she made me shave off the rest of the stripes on the apple. She refuses to eat the skins. Overall if was a very successful lunch. I just wish I had some lima beans on hand for her to try. L has never had them and I think this is just the book to encourage her to eat some.
Essentially this is a book about a little girl who cared more about what everyone else would think of her than being true to herself. It is great for conversations on how we treat other people who are different than us or how it feels to be made fun of when we are the different ones. Although my preschooler loved the book, the concept was a little above her. My 9 and 7 year old were able to grasp it though and also enjoyed the story.
Have a great week everyone! I would love it if you "liked" my blog in the upper right hand of the page:)
