Welcome to Muffin Tin Monday!
My boys went camping this weekend with the church and being a girly weekend and all, I felt the need to shop. Only it's really hard to shop when you don't have much money to shop with. After about 2 hours of browsing in local boutiques we ended up at Walmart. I spent about half an hour in the printer section (ours died). I picked one out, put it in my cart, put it back on the shelf and bought this:
Well I bought this and an .88 cent box of thumb tacks that I am going to do a craft with later this week.
So to celebrate my fun new purchase I had to put it to use and make a dinosaur Muffin Tin Lunch for L.
It's not a very diverse lunch but I was happy that I got a vegetable in there.
- Diplodocus PB&J
- T-Rex and Stegosaurus Shaped Chicken Nuggets
- Diplocus PB&J
- Stegosaurus Chicken Nuggets
- Volcanic Lava (ketchup)
- Dino Footprint (no bake cookie)
- Pteranodon Sugar Snap Peas (held together w/toothpick)
L ate everything except one sandwich and the casing of the sugar snap peas . My delicate princess was squeezing out the peas and as each one fell she said "ewww dactyl pooping! ewww dactyl pooping!" She thought she was hilarious but at least she ate the "poop" peas.
My oldest is a bit obsessed with dinosaurs and even at 9 1/2 he still plans on being a paleontologist when he grows up. That being said, we have a lot of dinosaur books on our shelves! But the book, Katie and the Dinosaurs is an all-time favorite of all three of my children. It is probably one of the most read books in our house.
Katie goes to the Natural History Museum with her grandma who has little interest in the old dino bones. While Katie's grandma decides to sit down and take a rest, Katie goes off to explore. It is then that she finds a door that leads to a secret world of live dinosaurs. She finds that the herbivores, like the Hadrosaur, are fun and friendly but they are all in trouble when the carnivorous T-Rex shows up.
This is one of those rare books that can please both boys and girls along with keeping children aged 3 -9 interested.

I have that same cutter! Unfortunately, it's packed. I'll have to do a dino tin soon... M is really into them.

That cutter is great! I'll have to see if I can find one. I love the dinosaur theme idea. Some of my boys are really into dinosaurs and it would be great to tie in to their learning. I love what you did with the snap peas!

What a cute cutter. I love how you outlined the dinosaurs! The book sounds great too.

I have seen that cutter at the shops, and I love it. Unfortunately my little princess would not be into it at all. I think dinosaurs are cool. She thinks they are for boys. Sigh.
Also, the pooping pteradactyls? Hilarious.
