My Mother's Day Etsy Wish List

Mother's Day is tomorrow. What does that mean at my house? It means an afternoon nap and some quiet reading time. Oh how I treasure my quiet reading time, quiet being the essential word here.

I told my DH to save our his money and not buy me anything. But, if he would happen to be walking down the street and stumble upon a $50 or a $100 bill, these are what I would ask for first.

 
I have been longing for this Tempest in a Tea Cup photographic art from Courage My Love for well over a year. I have my grandmother's antique tea cup collection displayed in my kitchen and I just think this would look so perfect framed on the wall in there. For now I will just have to pull the picture up my my laptop and let that sit in kitchen.

  

OMG this OMG Peapod Fail Necklace from asphyxivix cracks me up! This is one of those accessories you reach for on a blah day when you need a little pick me up. I can just imagine the smiles and attention it will draw, and let's face it I tend to be one of those attention seeking kinda people.

 
I HATE my camera case! It is grey and dirty and awkward. This Messenger Sparrow Camera Bag from Martilena would look so much cuter slung over my shoulder. I especially like the owl and brown leather one in the middle. I was a Chi Omega for like half a second in college. While I didn't come away with a great love of sororities, I did come away with a love of our mascot the owl and these ones are just too cute.

My birthstone is Topaz, blechk! It is rare that I find something I really love that is either Topaz and or its knock-off sister Citrine. However, I think these Citrine Bubble earrings from Fiza Designs are just adorable and would go great with my bubbly personality. OK my personality is not quite what you'd call bubbly, maybe fizzy is better. Anyway, I want 'em!

 

I have been interested in pottery ever since seeing the movie Ghost. Not that I've ever actually tried it but I've thought about it. Mostly what I've thought about was the whole  Patrick Swayze pottery wheel scene. I would venture to say that as many women have fantasized about that as men have about rescuing Princess Leia from Jabba the Hut. I'm just saying...  So if I get this Kazuko Harmony Tea Set from OC Pottery , I will invite you over for a cup of tea and we can stare off into space together and
fantasize about.................. all the other great stuff on this list.

Can We Get a Little Appreciation Please?

Did you know that teacher appreciation week is just around the corner? Did you know that today is Etsy Saturday here on Fakin It? Did you know that 1 + 1 = 4? How you ask? Well you see, when you add teacher appreciation day (1) with the featured Etsy shop, Beautiful Twists (1), you won't be able to resist buying at least 4 wonderful gifts, or more.

As I have mentioned before, my kids go to Catholic School. Our teachers aren't cranky old nuns as I have heard some described from others' childhood Catholic experiences. No, our teachers are mostly young (or at least young at heart), fun and have a great sense of humor. Which make this the perfect gift:

I have known a few military wives and I have to be honest, I don't know how they do it. It's like being a single mom, with the worry of a husband over seas. While I have always supported and appreciated our military, I think it's time to support the women behind the men, too.

meow...hiss...POUNCE!

It's Etsy  Saturday. Rather than reviewing a shop this week, I am going to introduce you to my favorite feature. It's called POUNCE! When I first discovered Etsy, I was a bit overwhelmed by the site. One day I stumbled upon this feature that randomly shows you either items that have just been sold or items that are from "undiscovered" sellers. You can choose which section you would like to pounce through.

Today I am going to share a few of my favorite pounce results from this week. I have not purchased from these sellers and can not testify to quality or customer service. However, I am only featuring shops with 100% positive feedback.

 
These boys ties from BubbaMae are just darling. It is so hard to find cute ties for my boys. They often look like old man ties without that youthful exuberance. I think these look super young and fresh. BubbaMae's shop also has hair accessories for girls, a lot of cuteness to check out.

  And you can't have well dressed boys without dolling up your little girl. Orange is my favorite color on L and I just fell in love with the bright bold colors and design of this pillowcase dress found at Creative Bee 706. I also really like the one shouldered tie feature. Most pillowcase dresses I've seen before tie at both shoulders.

 
Now that the kids are dressed for spring, let's spruce up the house  a bit. A throw pillow is an easy and often inexpensive way to give a room a new look. I think this fuchsia pillow cover from The Home Centric is fabulous! Of course my husband would never let me put a bright pink pillow on our couch or bed, but you can't blame a girl for dreaming. The shop has tons of beautifully and intricately decorated pillow coverings, ones my husband would even approve of.

 
I want to shout out how much I want to adopt this cute felt owl but I can't. You see, her name is Little Miss Whisper and apparently she is startled by loud sounds. She is just small enough to sneak in a little feminine spring decor without upsetting the testosterone levels in your home. She comes from the shop OrdinaryMommy but if you ask me this mommy must be extraordinary to create this little beauty.

All Dressed Up With No Place To Go

 
Dinners at home don't have to be drab or boring. While you're spicing up your food, how about spicing up your cooking attire? I think most husbands would be pleased to come home and find their wives cooking 'em a hot meal wearing nothing but this little treasure.

OK. Now that all the hardcore feminists have gone running and screaming from this site, lets get back to reality. I love these aprons from Boojiboo. I don't know a lot about sewing but my mom does. She is not one to hand out a lot of compliments but when she picked up my apron and commented on the craftsmanship and how strong the seams were, I knew I had made a good Etsy purchase. Yeah Me! And Yeah Boojiboo!

 

This is the style I bought and I had a custom one made for L in the same pattern but with purple accents. I must say, we are pretty stinkin cute in that kitchen together. Of course, L has us put these on sometimes even when we're not baking up something yummy. Ahh yes, two domestic goddesses sitting on the couch in our deer aprons and watching Dora the Explorer.

Boojiboo has all different styles and sizes of aprons. She is super nice and easy to work with if you have special requests.

Soaps to Satisfy All Your Senses

Have you ever thought you lost something you really loved? Well I thought I had lost my favorite soaps. Most of you probably wouldn't think that was a big deal but once you've experienced these soaps, well there's no going back. They smell delicious, they look beautiful, they make your skin feel great, and the names and descriptions will have you rolling. I am sure all of you can think of someone who'd appreciate a gift called "Hot Tranny Mess!"   Well anyway, they were an Etsy favorite of mine and then they moved but I found them again. HERE

Grumpy Girl Soaps is a self proclaimed Snarky Bath and Body Store for Divas. I think that kind of describes me to a t, especially the snarky part. They have all sorts of fun stuff. Want to take a sneak peak?

 

A few fun suggestions for the Easter basket or Mother's Day include: sweet smelling candle tins, Buttah-Cream Sugah Scrub or how about  yummy looking Cuppy Cake Bath Bombs. 

 
Aren't these lovely? You might be intrigued by names such as Blooming Idiot, Orange You Special, Deception and Lies, and for my Catholic friends, Sister Mary Frances but the descriptions are even more entertaining.

Imagine this scenario. A friends gives you a hug and says "Wow, you smell wonderful! What is that?" and your response is "Ghetto Princess" Talk about a conversation starter...

If you can only buy 1 thing, (this is really impossible given all the fab choices) my favorite is the Love You Long Time soap.
